I've seen the desire to start one of these mentioned a few times over the past few months (by Dimmer and alvi mainly), so I figured why not start one. I labeled it for February, because, if we get much interaction on it, it'll be much easier if we have a separate thread for each month rather than one thread that's like a billion posts long. The whole point is to set goals for yourself, no matter how small, and to receive support from other people on the forum in completing those goals. I know that, personally, I can have a hard time staying accountable to my goals if I'm just by myself, but having other people know about the goals and encourage me can often help. I will start: my goals for February are to continue with exposure therapy, finish crocheting a shawl, put buttons on the sweaters that I crocheted for my grandmas dog, and to spend more time doing mindfulness.

Shower. And yes, I know how gross that sounds.

Great idea! Thanks Sam. I'll join you on the "spend more time doing mindfulness" one - I signed up to 100 days of mindfulness just before Christmas, and I'm over 30 days behind already... I also want to spend some time outside every day (that's going to be tricky during the week, because it still gets dark quite early); and get my house tidy (but I've been promising myself that one for years and it never happens!).

I've had to put the "continue exposure therapy" goal on the backburner for a bit. One of the meds that I take, buspar, has a shortage, so I need to work on tapering it down so I can get off of it and not have to worry about this every few months. I could just go off cold turkey because its not supposed to have any withdrawal symptoms, but I don't trust my body to follow the rules, so I'm tapering it. Anyways, I don't really feel comfortable doing exposure therapy (something that stresses me out) while tapering down a medication (something else that stresses me out, and also will potentially cause me withdrawal symptoms). So yeah, I'm not really making much progress on that front.
How's everyone else doing with their goals? Its a little over halfway through the month, so now might be a good time for a check in.

I have been physically active lately, which is a good thing but, I'm just living day by day. Still haven't made any goals. That's okay! Some people really feel like they need to have goals in order to accomplish things and other people don't. And living day by day isn't all that bad. That's what I'm doing 99% of the time. If you really want goals, but are mostly living day by day, maybe try to set small goals that you can accomplish in a day so that you don't feel overwhelmed by some big, long-term goal that you can't see yourself ever accomplishing.

I think a goal for me would be to reach out to more people. I have friends, I just don't talk to them. I'm isolated from pretty much everyone.

I, personally, am not doing great on my goals, but I'm not doing too bad either. I haven't been working on exposure therapy that much (I stopped before my psychiatrist appointment to give myself a break, and then I had to start tapering one of my meds, so I never really started again) and I haven't put buttons on those sweaters yet (I don't have buttons that are big enough, so I need to find and then buy some), but I did finish crocheting the shawl that I was working on and I haven't been doing too bad on my mindfulness. It can be difficult for me to quickly quantify the mindfulness activities I've been doing because I have like 3 or 4 different forms that I use, so if I go by "how much time I'm using the mindfulness app I have," its not really much, but if I go by "how much total mindfulness activities" its a lot more.
