hello, i'm kate
in the blogs, I read that most of you have several characters and plots for a long time. I have different daydreams almost every day, with different characters and versions of myself. also in different circumstances. I can make them disappear or bring them back any time. the only thing that stays same all the time is the audience. everything else is changing due to what influences me. and I can control it most of the time, it not easy tho...
so is it still MD?

I've had certain characters that have literally lasted decades and others that have been around for only a very short period of time. If your daydream affects your ability to get things done in your day to day life or that you feel like they are taking over then it is maladaptive daydreaming no matter what the themes are or how long the characters have existed.

I’ve kept the same handful of characters since I started daydreaming. They have changed a little bit over the years ( what I wanted them to be at 11 is not what I want them to be at 24) but they’ve been consistently the same for over a decade now I just throw them into different scenarios and such.

I've had certain characters that have literally lasted decades and others that have been around for only a very short period of time. Same, some are 30 years old, some were a flash-in-the-pan. It's funny, because I've always felt like the people who had shorter-lived daydreams heavily out numbered the people with really old ones and here's a post where OP feels exactly the opposite!

Both. My ex gf is also a character into dreams. But plot changes everyday, other characters also change.even role of my ex gf also changes. Sometimes she is my wife, at other times she is Just some colleague who has a crush on me.

I have one common theme. Every couple of months the scenario will change me and my family (if they make an appearance) being the only constant. If I like a scenario enough I will return to it from time to time.

My character is generally a different version of me, with slight variations on history and appearance depending on what universe I insert myself into. I've spent a good few years tweaking the daydream-me that I use currently, developing her character over time.
