Hi,
I discovered this forum a few months ago, and then the pandemic hit and I’ve been stressed out and distracted. I thought I would just say hello. I’ve had MD since childhood. It is like an addiction, like I can’t be satisfied with myself or the world in general and need to live in an alternate reality. It’s interesting to see how others have the same struggles, but also, how they experience it differently from me. I don’t really have separate characters, more like an idealized self that does everything right (opposite of reality!). Thank you for providing this forum. I hope you are all stating healthy and safe.

Welcome to the forum!
Idealized self characters are really common. Most (though not all) of us have idealized self characters in addition to other characters, which we often borrow from other media.

Thank you Sam and Alvi! :-). Have almost gotten through a day without MD, except a touch here and there, mainly by exercising and keeping busy.
