I'll answer a few of your questions based on my experience. I'm a female in my 50s. I was an only child so I had the typical imaginary siblings and friends. But as I got older, the normal daydreams became addictive daydreams of people and relationships I wish were really in my life.
I want to answer your question: Do you think if you had the busiest life would you do it? My experience is that it's an addiction, so yes. MD is something that helps me go to sleep so being busier wouldn't help me much.
I have opened up to a counselor recently. Before I agreed to see her, I sent several articles on MD, which she had read by our first visit. She was very caring, but I came to the conclusion that I really need someone who is more familiar with the topic.
I am still praying and trying to break free of it and some days are better than others.
I know these are just a few answers to your questions, but I hope they help with your assignment.
