Hi, everyone. I wanted to ask if anyone has seen The Secret Life of Walter Mitty staring Ben Stiller. I asked this question before, but I am where I put it or if anyone can find it on this forum without looking for it. So, I decided to post this again in the general. I watched the movie yesterday and could relate to it. Has anyone else seen it?

I feel that that movie really gets what it is like. Only wish it were that easy to use the daydreams to chase your goals. It isn't though. But there were definitely times it were. However, I wouldn't want people I know pointing out how he can do it and constantly using his fictional success in using the problem to his benefit as a way of pointing out how I'm not handling it right and how I'm messing up.

I saw a movie review on that movie and I'm glad it was able to capture what Madd is like. I remember reading the comments under the video and I remember someone commented something like "Remember Maladaptive Daydreaming is keeping you from being you." I have never agreed with that comment more than ever and when you think about it Madd does keep us from being ourselves. We imagine this perfect self in our head who is everything we want to be and it's easy for us to have that confidence to be ourselves and show ourselves off. But when we're in reality we can''t seem to find that confidence and self worth and we tend to be real shy and quiet and don't show off our talents to other people. I think if we were able to overcome this then we could finally accept ourselves for who we are, find other talents and show off you worth. I always imagined and felt like Maladaptive Daydreaming was something or someone controlling our head and holding us back from being who we want to be and living our life. That's just what I think.

It's s.ad to see that the movie didn't affect you as much as it affected me. I just can't stop t.hinking about this movie. Especially, the scene where Walter Mitty meets Sean O'Connell was very deep, inspiring and beautiful in so many ways. That scene is forever etched in my mind. You carry your identity in your wallet. Walter has thrown the wallet away. Being himself and realizing his own worth was the only source of happiness he sought from the beginning. It was always with him but he didn't look inside to find happiness and always looked for happiness outside himself. That symbolism is just perfect. I have never seen symbolism used so beautifully in a movie like that before. This movie is a snow leopard. It's a rare, beautiful and painfully overlooked movie.
