Hello, I am new 😊
I had not actually heard of Maladaptive daydreaming till I heard it in a youtube video, googled it and thought ‘This sounds familiar…’. I am starting to read about other people’s experiences with daydreaming and finding it helpful and encouraging to see so many others have similar experiences. I’m especially interested in finding out what people think about maladaptive daydreaming and social phobia, add/adhd and aspergers as these are all diagnoses that have been suggested for me over the years, though I hadn’t come across as daydreaming as a symptom.

Welcome to the forum!
MD is seen most frequently as an escapist unhealthy coping mechanism for other mental illnesses, as well as issues like loneliness. This makes it similar to other unhealthy coping mechanisms like excessive video gaming, drinking, or smoking.
