This is very new to me I heard about MD on tik tok a few months back, and I thought I do that all day every single day. I honestly thought it was just something I did I didn't know there are so many of such out there it honestly brings comfort. Anyways I don't even remember when I started daydreaming. I know it was triggered by my depression and suicidal thoughts. I think it was the only way I survived honestly my brain forcing it's self to cope with my circumstances. I was mentally abused for some years and now I live with MD. I understand that I can't just get rid of it which frustrates me because it takes hours out of my day. I wake up day dreaming and it's just not healthy. I want to belong to myself again not to some alternate reality where everything is peaches and cream and I am someone I am definitely not. I do have depressive cycles and I am currently going through one but I don't want to depend on MD. Does anyone know ways to help limit the time I daydream so I can get what I actually want done in the day. If so please 🥺

Welcome to the forum!
MD is frequently used as a coping mechanism, so your experience is pretty common. Anything that you can do to help yourself focused on the present moment and/or cope with life in a healthier way is beneficial. Other coping skills include things like exercise, journaling, and mindfulness. Mindfulness can also help teach you to continually come back to te present moment.
