This is very new to me I heard about MD on tik tok a few months back, and I thought I do that all day every single day. I honestly thought it was just something I did I didn't know there are so many of such out there it honestly brings comfort. Anyways I don't even remember when I started daydreaming. I know it was triggered by my depression and suicidal thoughts. I think it was the only way I survived honestly my brain forcing it's self to cope with my circumstances. I was mentally abused for some years and now I live with MD.
I understand that I can't just get rid of it which frustrates me because it takes hours out of my day. I wake up day dreaming and it's just not healthy. I want to belong to myself again not to some alternate reality where everything is peaches and cream and I am someone I am definitely not. I do have depressive cycles and I am currently going through one but I don't want to depend on MD. Does anyone know ways to help limit the time I daydream so I can get what I actually want done in the day. If so please 🥺
MD is frequently used as a coping mechanism, so your experience is pretty common. Anything that you can do to help yourself focused on the present moment and/or cope with life in a healthier way is beneficial. Other coping skills include things like exercise, journaling, and mindfulness. Mindfulness can also help teach you to continually come back to te present moment.
Don't give up what you want most for what you want now.
