reading these threads on triggers seems to be following two separate definitions....one seems to be where you are getting your material from, movies, books etc what is inspiring you and the other seems to be what causesor allows you to slip into a DD?

Well, both are triggers in fact. Just one type stimulates your imagination and gives you ideas, while the other one urges you to sink into your fantasies. Would be cool to get some separate names for them ofc :)

Yeah, trigger does seem to mean a few different things, Trigger "trigger" and Trigger "inspiration"... not sure inspiration is exactly the right word for it but it's as close as I could think of. Neither of which are exactly what Trigger seems to mean in psychology, as in trauma trigger.

For me, it's both. For example, music (my worst trigger by far) both inspires new DD as well as makes me slip into DD (including those I've already done but am doing again in a slightly different way).
Either way, I wish I could stop!!

Either way, I wish I could stop!! I agree. The inspiration and actual triggers tend to overlap a lot. A lot of the things that inspire new daydreaming material also trigger the actual daydreams themselves.
