Hi, I'm Elizabeth1117. I'm new to this website and forum. I've been a huge daydreamer since early childhood, but I wouldn't say I was Maladaptive until my teen years. That's when it really took off. I go through phases when the daydreaming is more intense, like periods of extreme stress or dissatisfaction with life. I've always used it to fill needs that weren't being filled in other ways.
I actually would like to greatly lessen the daydreaming because I would be so much more productive in life. For instance, I"m a really good writer and want to write a book, but that gets sidelined a bit because of my intense need to daydream. Interestingly, my writing is both helped and at times, hindered by daydreaming.
I hope that I will gain insights from the rest of you that will help me better balance my life.
Thank goodness someone figured out that this can be a disorder. I always thought I was alone in my struggles.
