Hi, everyone! So, I made a Word document to record my daydreaming and I thought I'd share it. Its based off of the habit reversal training that I've been trying for my skin picking. I did make a few changes. For this, I thought it would be best to record every incident, instead of just the few that are traditionally done to gain insight into the habit. Personally, the thought of having to record every single incident will, I believe, make me less likely to daydream. I haven't tried this for myself yet, as I just made the document, but I'm planning on using it (yay, yet another thing that I have to write down--I already keep detailed records of my day, its exhausting). I labelled it as a template, so please don't edit that document. Make a copy of it. If you don't feel comfortable having that information on your computer where anyone could walk up and see it, you can password protect the file. I did for my copy. I will say this, however, about password protected Word documents--manually save. I mean, don't just click the little save button at the top of the screen (autosave isn't available to password protected documents), literally open file and click "save a copy." Don't change the file name unless you want a billion files. Just click save. It will say "You already have a file named [file name]. Do you want to replace it with this one?" You need to click "yes." Trust me, I have a password protected Word document that I use as a journal and it repeatedly didn't save my changes, even after clicking the save button and it saying that it was saved. It was the most frustrating thing ever. Manually overwriting the saved document every time is the only way I've found to circumvent that irritating glitch. Anyways, here is the document. I can't say for sure whether or not using this has helped me decrease the amount of time I daydream (though I have been daydreaming less), especially since I haven't been doing very good at actually using the competing responses. But I've recorded almost every single daydreaming episode I've had for 5 months and its definitely helped me understand more about them.

Boosting this thread again since we have quite a few new members.
I've been recording my daydreaming in this document since the beginning of the year and while it is generally very repetitive, with pretty much the same entries every time, I still like having a physical record of my daydreams. And since I have my documents password protected, I don't have to worry about someone else reading it.
In the months since I first shared this, I've added a new column. Its purpose is to give you a space to write out what you could have done or offered yourself instead of daydreaming. Often, this is the competing response(s) that you could have engaged in. Other times, its more of an emotional sort of thing you could have given yourself. For example, if you feel that you've failed in some way and that feeling of failure triggered your daydreaming, you could have offered yourself compassion and kindness.

I just found out what my problem calls and i found this forum and this theme, i try to use it daily, thank u so much, i hope so much it’ll help me at least decrease a little my dreaming problem

I will give your word document ago. I suppose what i was doing in anger over the 2 week period was to replace the daydreaming with some sort of excitement --the car chase scene --the running, and the pure will power by shaking my head from side to side. I'm really struggling to keep quiet about this. Basically, about 2 months ago I started really committing to using habit reversal training (instead of only using this document to record my daydreaming episodes). I'm collecting data to send to Dr. Somer and his team. I'm not sure how much I should talk about it, since its essentially a research project, but I definitely recommend trying habit reversal training for your MD.
Once I'm done collecting data and I give it to the research team, as long as its okay with them, I'll write much more in depth here about what I've been doing. Unfortunately, it'll be at least a few months. I was planning on collecting data for the team for about 6 months, which is until March. I don't know if I'll wait that long (it depends on results and a couple of other factors), but it'll probably be at least February before I can post here about it.
But seriously, come up with some competing responses and really try to implement them. Small rewards help with motivation.
Sorry about being so vague, I'm doing it on purpose because I really want to share this with all of you but I shouldn't go into detail until after I'm done collecting data.
