I often repeat the same daydream scenes reliving the most enjoyable or emotion provoking scenes making little changes each time until I either get the story just the way I want it or it become boring and I no longer find it as enjoyable. Sometimes I will do this only a few times but I often have different scenarios of the same scene playing on repeat for weeks at a time. There are times I make big changes but also when only a little bit of dialog or character is changed. I also replay parts making them funnier or sadder to match the mood I am in.
Who else does this and to what extent? Do some people just have a continuous daydream with no need to redo parts?

I do this all the time. Sometimes for years, with occasional breaks when I'm focusing on a different universe. Literally, I could focus on one scene over and over and over again for hours. And it does get tweaked depending on my mood.

This happens to me too, I can get caught in a loop for weeks or months, it gets really frustrating. It usually happens when someone acts 'out of character'. I don't (consciously) control the plot or characters, when they act out of character I don't say to myself 'need to fix that' or 'I want to see that again', it just happens, like my brain has a built in failsafe to keep the plot together. If I had to describe it it feels kind of like I have remembered something wrong and my mind is replaying the scene until I 'remember' what actually happened.

I do this constantly. I'm always tweaking the scene each time I do it. It's like I'm trying to improve it each time. The same characters and location, but different dialogue and degree of emotion.
Lately a scene I do over and over constantly is me being interviewed and describing my relationship with a certain celebrity that I've been obsessing over.

I do this during a daydream I would go back over it and edit what happened to suit how I am feeling as well I could spend hour tweaking one part of my daydream until I am happy and then go to another part and do the same thing of another few hours until its prefect.

It's seemingly a common trait.
