Hey guys
I know we already have a thread for discussing the strategies that help us. I would love to have a thread for sharing and maybe organizing resources!
There aren't many resources that are specifically about dealing with MD but I've found different things that help me manage symptoms. I think we're all different and our MD is different and what works for one person might not work for another...but I would love to have a collection of resources that we could browse through and hopefully use to find new ways to manage MD.
Here are some of the things I've been using - feel free to add to it! I have PDF versions of the books listed if anyone is interested, the Google Book links just show a limited number of pages.
Self-help books:Running on Empty - by Janice Webb. It's a book about how to recover from emotional neglect during childhood with a lot of exercises.
Self-esteem - by Matthew McKay. This one helped me become aware of bad habits, negative thoughts, etc and there are practical solutions for dealing with that.
DBT therapy:The Dialectal Behavior Theory handbook - I use this for the mindfulness exercises and the exercises for dealing with emotions better.
Social interactions:Conversationally Speaking - by. Alan Garner
The Art of Witty Banter - by P. King
These two books had some cool strategies for preparing things to say for conversations - I think it's somewhat useful if you tend to zone out during interactions.
Health:The UltraSimple diet - Dr. Hyman
Eating Well for Optimum Health - by A. Weil
I'm listing these because I've noticed there is a connection between what I eat and brain fog and being able to focus and do things. I've only very recently started to look at my diet and these two books have been helpful but I'm
if these will make a real difference in the long-term.
Workouts:
darebee.com/ - this site has a ton of cool infographic workouts
www.cnet.com/how-to/youtube-fitness-channels-for-getting-in-shape/ - a list of YouTube channels with video workouts
Working out makes a huge difference for me but it's always been hard because I can't stay focused and complete a workout without falling into MD and pacing. I've been making progress with the video workouts though.
Procrastination, getting things done, etc:Online timer tool for the Pomodoro technique:
