I am sure that what I have is a form of MDD and I have described my condition to Dr Eli Somer, who also thinks so.
Having said that, I have been a member of r/maladaptive daydreaming for a while and have found nobody else like me.
Since I was a baby I have had "jumping and shaking" daydreams, where I have the most intense daydreams and jump and shake my arms/hands. They are so vivid it is like a movie where I am actually in the movie.
I am now 56 and still do it.
When I am in private, I actually enjoy it although I am aware that, given my age, it is not necessarily a good thing to send my heart rate into the stratosphere!
When I am in public and I feel a "jump" coming on ( it happens in a split second and is usually triggered by a thought), I am able to suppress it but often with a facial twitch/grimace and biting of my fingers.
I can, at all times, distinguish between my jumping daydreams and reality
I believe I have a Complex Motor Stereotypy with IIM.
I have spent years researching my condition and I was just wondering if anyone on here can relate or knows that they have CMS with IIM.
Regards,
Mike

Hello Mike!
I obviously also jump and shake, in fact I do all of the repetitive behaviors associated with MD. Although I've come to realize the worse my real conditions are the more I ignore them. Making not just my daydreams more frequent but also the repetitive behaviors more intense. AND my real life pretty much crumbles as I never face anything and just daydream a better world. I don't always mouth my dialogue, or whisper but when I do, then I am deep into a daydream which seems to happen around times I feel the most urgency to escape reality. Publicly, I've learned to control it as most of us have but I do pace back and forth while waiting for trains, on lines or pretty much anywhere in which I am "waiting" or need to stand still in one area. I have found myself at times whispering in public but I QUICKLY catch it,and then look around hoping no one has just seen that. I don't believe personally I have the same combination of conditions that you do but I am certain that I have ADHD along side the MD. I am sorry I cannot be of better service to you.
I am though interested in knowing how you've copped through your life? How has it effected you and what is your position on getting rid of it? Who in your life knows about this? Where and how did you come into contact with Eli Somer? Are you or have you ever been on medication to manage these symptoms and if so which ones?
Sorry in advance for all the questions. Your post peeked my interest.
I
