Hi everyone. I am currently preparing for university entrances, and I study through online courses, so I am pretty much alone all the time, and my Md makes it real difficult. Actually I am at this point that i can at most maybe pass if i put in real work or I will fail . And at this point its pretty much impossible for me to connect elsewhere in outside. So I was wondering if any of you also face similar problems while studying. Maybe we can connect in small groups in a chat room and help each other by holding each other accountable, we can share our study schedules, motivate, if one feels the urge to Dd then he can talk with others instead, maybe have a chat once in a while. We will have to agree on a particular time etc. Please let me know what you think about this and if any of you would like to give it a try. Any other suggestions. Anything will be very much appreciated.

I don't start classes until January, but I do need to stay focused on my other tasks right now as well, so I'd be open to being a part of this. It might be a bit difficult to pick a time because a lot of people here are in vastly different timezones though. What sort of platform were you thinking of doing the chat on?

Maybe I just worry too much, but I really am uncomfortable using external chatrooms. As far as I know, there are no internal chatrooms, but I'm new here. I don't know if it's possible to mass message through the forum either. Back when I was in an online school the only time people were able to chat in a chat room were during scheduled club meetings, and outside of that people just kept up with each other via the internal message board and Webmail system. I do know that I'm basically going to be doing homework all day and at my home all the schedules are getting shifted around, so anytime would be fine with me. Let me know what you decide to do. If you do use a chat room then I'll really appreciate it if someone can come back here from time to time to check in. I've basically already been trying to use here to replace dding, but I think it doesn't work too well since I've got nobody to encourage me to get back to work and I just get stuck here for a while. I don't want to do that, but it happens. Now I am almost done with reading a section, and then I'm going to complete associated homework, and then I'm going to come back here. I know it will take a long while (an embarrassingly long while), but it's gonna be done today, is gotta be done today, and I look forward to getting back here when I'm done and seeing if anyone came up with anything.

I know I said I was leaving, and now I'm really going to, but first I realized there are groups on the forum. I don't know how that works. Does anyone else? It might be helpful in this, but I don't know.

I know that you say you're uncomfortable with external chats, but have you looked at google hangouts? Its mainly used for video and voice chat, but it does have a text chat option. I used to use it in high school to talk to teachers and classmates. If you're worried about using an email that identifies you, you could create an extra account specifically for this and not put any personal details/photos.

Actually I am not yet sure about which platform to use. I was looking for some cross platform options ( that would works for windows, android, etc). Google hangouts looks like a good option. I found this external chat site called chatcrypt, where you don't need anything except a username and password with is shared by the members. What do you think? Any other platform you like?
What is a group on the forum?

Hey guys, I know I said I'll be back here two days ago, but things came up that really slowed me down. So I'm 2 days behind where I hoped to be right now. I'm a little worried because I feel like I'm going to daydream. Earlier my Mom and brother being in the room made it easier to concentrate, and I think tiredness has to do with it too because I'm more tired now so focusing seems harder. I'll come back in 30 minutes to see if anyone has any ideas or tips.

Hey. I don't remember what happened, why I didn't come back. My guess is I forgot. Right now I don't have a no-people-in-the-room situation, but then it wouldn't have worked to be in the room with them because they were having too much fun in the other room and I knew if I went there I would be distracted moreso. I really get tired of my mind sometimes. I used to just want to get away from them to study. That was simpler. Now it's distracting when they're there and distracting when they're gone. I've got more to say about my situation, but I'm going to post it in the vent and advice thread.

I'm going to be leaving the forum for the rest of my break and maybe a little longer. I'm sorry I won't be able to help, Granger. It's just been too distracting whenever I'm logged in. I don't want to leave, even to do work. So I'm setting a goal to not come back here for the rest of the break, and possibly into the beginning of next semester. Maybe by the time I come back something would be set up and maybe by then I won't be uncomfortable about external chats. If not, when I come back I'll help get something started.

I'm back. Has anyone come up with anything? From here it doesn't look like it, but maybe there are some unshared ideas out there. Anyway, I'm glad to be back. One incomplete went well for me, and the other I'm still waiting on my final grade. But they are over and now I'm in the new school year and hoping I can realize some of my daydreams. Planning on being really focused and organized. I haven't been able to do that for so long it is hard to believe it will work now, but I've got support here so I'm hoping it's going to happen eventually. I'm so glad to be back. I'm going to post my month goals, even though it is really late in the month. Tell me your ideas on getting this started.

Tell me your ideas on getting this started. :) Do you use a planner to schedule out what you're going to work on each day? That can be helpful to keep yourself organized and less overwhelmed by your tasks. I'm not sure exactly how your school works, but say you have 20 things you have to complete each week. Its a lot easier to work on those 20 things when you schedule out to do 4 a day instead of just saying "oh, I have to finish 20 things by the end of the week." You're welcome to post in the goals thread at any time. I personally use it for monthly goals, but its totally okay to use it for shorter term goals if you want. I just create a new one each month so that the thread doesn't end up ridiculously long.

I'm not sure how much it will help because it doesn't really keep you accountable, but I've heard that watching study with me videos while you're doing schoolwork can help you stay focused. I'm actually starting to make them to work on my anxiety about being watched because my exams will be proctored and my brain going blank from anxiety isn't really a conducive way to get good grades. Anyways, they aren't good quality or anything and its just me working quietly (and making faces when I don't understand how to do something), but if you'd like, you can watch them here.
