Hello,
I am a Mum to a child who is MD and has a complex fantasy world of characters and scenarios. Since my child took up MD I have had friends 'come out' to me as also having intense daydreaming with a cast of characters and scenarios that come and go in their lives.
I also had similar but not as intense but this has stopped as I have got older.
I have done a lot of reading around this area and because of my child dx I have been able to discuss MD with psyches.
I want to support my child in a positive way so they can mange and enjoy whats going on for them.
Any input welcome!

Hi! Welcome! It makes me really happy to see a parent getting involved for their child. Most people and parents don't take this seriously. When I talked about it with my mother she just said "well everybody daydreams", she thinks I just want to be a special snowflake. Needless to say we never talked about it again. I hope you will find the answers and support you're looking for here.

Hello, It's great to hear from you! Yes I take it seriously, as it also affects me as well and is a very important part of my child's life. I am sorry that you have not had a positive response from parents etc.
If I can be supportive to others that's great too.

Hello! Its truly amazing to see a parent here. A lot of us were forced to grow up with MD without any help. So, helping your child deal with their fantasies will help them be more open, aware and stronger. In MD you are alone for life, unless there is someone there to understand and teach you how to put this unique brain in to good use.
Thank you.

Hello, I have gotten into this because of my child who has quite extreme issues linked to her dx. I have done a lot of reading around this issue and have identified that I was a MD from a more mild perceptive as a child and adult which I don;t do anymore - about which I have a sense of loss - but this is also linked to getting older. When I told a adult friend of mine that my child has a host of invisible friends and fantasy game/ world that they can play for hours ( this is all real time BTW not linked to online) they came out to me as having variants on this. I am lucky that I have neuro psychs to discuss my child with. MD and it's variant is actually pretty normal for people. So I am with my child and I support them ( I have a role in her fantasy world too but only minor thank goodness) but they have to learn to manage it which it tough especially when your still a kid. And we have chats about how things are going for her and about the people in her world and whats going on. So it's all good. And your all good to. It's great to be here.
