Hi there
I wanted to ask if anyone’s daydreams are affected or changed by things you see hear or read about the person you’re daydreaming about.
If it’s on a famous person, does anyone find that if you read something or find something out about your MD person that was completely unexpected or that you don’t like that it affects the way you day dream?
I try to make sure that there’s nothing bad about the person otherwise I go into a nightmarish panic and feel that I can’t daydream about them anymore, as I can’t see them the same way.
A lot of times I do take things out of context with being on the Autistic spectrum, but I find it devastating if I find something out that could be bad or wrong.
A lot of the time when I talk about it to trusted people, I have taken it out of context and that assures me that I can continue daydreaming.
Has anyone else had this, and feel that they can’t daydream because of something you’ve seen?
It then feels like you want the MD episode to go away as quickly as possible, and for it to move onto someone’ else.
Please let me know as this is one of the most debilitating aspects of this condition.

I’ve mostly given up on believing the best of people, since so many times I’ve thought someone was good and then proven wrong. Like a milkshake duck but with already famous people. And I know it sucks when your assumptions about people get proven wrong and I understand why you then feel like you can’t or at least shouldn't daydream about that person. Perhaps try to think of it in a positive light: you feel you have to stop daydreaming about someone who did something bad because you have strong moral values. And having strong moral values is a GOOD thing, even if they make you feel uncomfortable or inconvenience you.

I absolutely do have strong moral values, but I think sometimes I go a little overboard with it and start seeing things that aren’t there. I guess I just have to accept that even good people do bad things sometimes.
