Do you make use of free moments by intentionally opening a DD, setting up music or whatever triggers you use, intentionally on the story, like "where did i elave off with this" in a way like opening a book, starting a movie... OR alternately do you find that they just start on their own, without intention,as your mind wanders and suddenly at some point you find yourself in the DD, one that you maybe did not intentionally create? For myself i think there is both, mostly wandering thought ones that just happen, but before sleeping and upon waking definitely conjured intentionally

I would say both as well. Many times I start them on purpose, many times I just slip into them before I even notice what's happening.

Most of the time i intentionally dd. When im out and about i always take my ipod with me and at night when im at home i will use the ipod again to dd while doing repeditive movements. The night time dd session doubles as my exercise. I dont do the repeditive movememts while im dding in public though.

For me I would say that its both. A lot of the times its unintentional, ie I get triggered by something, I get a strong urge to daydream, and then I daydream whether I really want to or not, just to get rid of the urge. But other times, especially when I'm stressed, I won't really have been triggered by anything, I just purposefully start daydreaming as a coping method for whatever's stressing me out.

I am also both. I don't have triggers such as music though. For me it is always there in the back of my head humming away but I can choose to focus on it if I want to. I usually choose to at night as I find it helps me switch off and stop ruminating. However, it is never as intense when I choose to do it as when it happens whether I like it or not.
For example last thursday I really had no choice. I was in it whether I wanted to be there or not and whatever else I was also doing at the time. It's more like involuntary hallucinations when it's like that, but in the inside of my head rather than outside, if that makes sense. I think this is why I find the addiction description doesn't quite sit right for me as it can be more like having internal visions than actively doing something.

I didn't really try. I've just always daydreamed a lot since I was little and never really stopped.

It's definitely both for me. A lot of the time intentionally DDing and just 'slipping into it' intertwine, so to speak. As in, I'll intentionally start a DD, and then have a heck of a time coming back to reality when I need to. There are times when I'll be getting ready for work in a fog/on autopilot because a DD is still sticking in my mind.

For me it used to be both. I spent the largest portion of my walking time falling into dreams. Now I DD only intetionally.

I notice that i intentionally daydream if i know i have a day to myself.
Or like others have said, while doing mindless/repetitive work with my earbuds on..
If i'm laying awake at night, and can't sleep..
Or driving long distances.
