Hi, I´m Sebastian and I´m new here. I´ve been daydreaming a lot since I´ve been a child. It always helped me cope with my mental illnesses and other personal problems. Whenever I felt bad I tried to escape into another world. In the past few years it got worse. Now I can´t focus on anything. My mind drifts away within seconds. I can´t focus on homework or school in general, and sometimes I also get lost in my dreams during conversations with family or friends. It really affects my life in a negative way. Another thing I want to mention here is that I´m Trans (born female, now male). And in my daydreams I can see myself as a biological boy and pretend my life isn´t messed up. It makes me feel better about myself as long as I´m in my mind, but as soon as I have to deal with the real world again, I feel even worse. So as soon as I get out of my daydreams, I immediately want to enter this imaginary world again. I always felt alone with this problem and finding this website made me realize that there are other people that have got the same struggle and I´m glad I got here. I´m really looking forward to getting into contact with other people

Welcome to the forum, Sebastian!
Your experiences with using daydreaming as a coping method for other mental illnesses and wanting to be back in your daydream world as soon as you leave it are pretty common among people here on the forum.
Practicing mindfulness might help increase the length of time you can focus since it teaches you to continually come back to the present.
I hope you find the support you're looking for here on the forum!
