Does the version of you or a character in your dds have a skill or hobby that you could learn in your real life? So many of my characters or versions of myself have skills that are actually things I could try and teach myself, I just don't as I lack the motivation and discipline to try these things.
I waste so much time daydreaming and really want to do it less so I was thinking of putting my dreams to good use and trying to take the things I want to be able to do out from my fantasies and into my real life.
Does anyone else have something from their dreams that they want to learn or are learning at the moment, maybe a language or an instrument and how have you gone about taking the time and the effort to step out of your dds and start learning the skill for real?

Most (almost all) of my characters have a huge talent in music. Maybe, same goes for many daydreamers, idk, music is a trigger after all. Just I can truly say that I love music most of all and I like people who have a talent for music. And yes, I’m my case it’s something I can’t achieve irl because I tried playing instruments as a teen, also tried singing - my abilities in this field turned out very poor; so trying more is a waste of time and energy.
Oh and another thing is computer skills - daydreams about hackers rock!

Ah as you mention it, I realized that one skill that common with main male characters, are often excellence with baking skill. While the female characters are great at cooking skill. I learned so much both from male and female characters to shaping my baking and cooking skill.

I feel like I keep talking about it too much around here and on Reddit but I’ve recently started painting. I started with flowers, mostly one stroke stuff, but I’ve made small improvements since I started. I’m now learning how to paint mushrooms! It’s been so enjoyable, I’m going to sign my sister and I up for a painting class at our city community center. I’d also love to start learning piano again. I’ve had a harder time sticking with it than painting, but I hope to get around to it soon. And I’d also like to start reading more. I feel like I’m a really dumb person (was tested for a learning disability when I was younger and it turns out I have trouble processing information). I’d love to start feeding my mind more useful information during my free time rather than daydreaming. It’s always easier said than done though.

I can't double quote but Theaxe I had guitar lessons as a child and was terrible. I'm now trying to learn again but I really lack self discipline and tend to give up if I can't do something quickly. I can badly strum my way through a few songs but a lot of the time my pinkie doesn't want to cooperate. kipper How often do you paint? Do you think you will ever share any of your art here for us all to see? Signing up to a class is a great idea, it may keep you from being lost in a dd for a few hours a week and its nice that you and your sister will be doing something together.

Signing up to a class is a great idea, it may keep you from being lost in a dd for a few hours a week and its nice that you and your sister will be doing something together. I’ve started painting more and more. Just last night I painted from 8pm until midnight. I hardly ever paint anything big, I’ve mostly been painting single objects/plants and experimenting with shading. I’d like to get the basics down before I attempt full scenes. I still don’t know exactly what I want to paint. I don’t want to only paint landscapes and stuff, I need to tap into my creative side. I feel like I haven’t used that since I was a child . I feel like I’ve made improvements since I started painting, but I don’t think I’m anywhere near confident enough to share my paintings here yet. I’d definitely like to in the future! I also struggle with self discipline btw. Daydreaming aside, I seriously lack motivation and it’s always been hard to find a hobby and stick with it. It’s a miracle I’ve been painting for as long as I have.
