So until I read a study today I was completely unaware this was a thing with a name. I've not had the best childhood and have used daydreaming to escape stress and anxiety. Now that I'm 29 I still do it daily. I've learned that if I start a new job I can't let my mind day dream since i'm learning new things and that stresses me out. I've linked being able to relax at work and daydream with my anxiety being lower. Which typing out sounds obvious. I suffer from Bipolar depression/anxiety. I was diagnosed 5 years ago and take daily meds and see a therapist. I've never brought up daydreaming however as I had no idea it was indicative of anything. Anyways I'm to see what this new information brings, if anything, and to be able to possibly talk to others about their situation and tendencies. I'm glad forums like this exist. Thanks all and hope you are doing well.

Welcome to the forum!
It's nice to meet someone else who has the really fun combination of bipolar and anxiety disorders. MD is usually used as an unhealthy coping mechanism, which is why it's much more common in people who have other comorbid mental illnesses. I know that a lot of us use daydreaming as a way to just cope with our emotions as well.
