Hello! I'm Jany, I'm a 18yo artist who came across this forum while seeking for answers.
I started daydreaming at 6 or 7, but I thought it was something everyone did until a few years back, when my family thought I had depression due to the amount of time I spent "doing nothing and staring blankly at things". After that I started my own researchs to find out what was "wrong" with me, and it finally clicked when I found out about Maladaptive Daydreaming.
I currently have 3 worlds, and the most active one has 5 AUs. A fun fact is that I only dream in 2D, but they're never in my own art style!
I'm still dont know if I'm a maladaptive daydreamer or an immersive one, but whatever the case, I hope to learn how to incorporate my creations into my art, as well as learn how to appreciate life a little more since I lose interest for real world things very quickly.
That's it for now, it's good to find people who understand what it's like! (also sorry for my broken english)

In general, I consider the difference between immersive and maladaptive daydreaming to be how much it interferes with your ability to function in real life. That's the main characteristic of maladaptive daydreaming--it impairs your ability to function, usually your ability to get work or school tasks done efficiently and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships.
Don't give up what you want most for what you want now.
