I am so happy to discovered. I new myself like this since i was born and I thought i was weird. I listen to music everyday and dreaming myself dancing and singing, and impressing people. This takes hours and hours And I go back and fourt at my bed. Only thing i remember was i saw my sister doing this when I was very young. And I copied her. Now my cousin is doing the same. Can MD be genetic?

Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder can be caused by one of two things, as far as I know: extreme loneliness and/or trauma. Although, there hasn't been all too much research on this. Think back on your life around the time this started. You may have always had an incredible imagination, but was there a point where it became stronger? Where you began to daydream much more? Did you have any strong connections to others at the time? Did some major upsetting thing happen, or perhaps a lot of smaller upsetting things that still had a long-lasting affect on you? What about your sister and cousin? All important questions to consider. By the way, I'm glad you figured out you have MADD, it's great to find others you can relate to :^).
