I can relate to so many experiences that I’ve read about on this forum. One thing I don’t see a lot of but is a huge part of my DD, is acting. I physically act out my daydream and when alone, often speak aloud. I’m worried that one day I will get caught and be mortified but I do love my DD’s and acting them out makes them seem more real. Anyone else do the same?

Hi, I do the same thing. Actually that's something that has bothering me a little bit because most people with MMD that explain their experiences on the internet say that they pace, and I don't pace, I act out my daydreams and that made me think my MD wasn't MD. Sometimes I immerse myself so deep in my scenarios that I caught myself talking REALLY loud.

I actually do the exact same thing.. I pace around, and imagine myself in a new world. Sometimes I catch myself doing it all around me. I had no idea that was a symptom of MMD

For me as well, I pace. More precisely I pace in a circle in my back room. It's known to my family that I go in there to "walk". My mother-in-law asked me before why I don't just use the treadmill - it's not the same though. I find that I don't act things out exactly but, I will make faces, experience emotion (sometimes start crying), and my pace definitely depends on what feeling I'm experiencing at that moment.

I like to have headphones in my ears, whenever I’m outside. If someone sees my lips moving , they might just assume I’m on a phone call, useing a headset mic.

Anyone else do the same? Yes, I do this too you’re not alone. If it’s a funny theme, I’ll actually laugh out loud, and if it’s a or emotional theme I’ll act out the sounds and facial expressions of someone who’s ill or injured. I also rock back and fourth completely alone with music and headphones to set the tone.

I was wondering if MD was actually the correct term for what I have, because I rarely read about acting. I don't pace, I usually just sit on my bed. I don't rock back and forth or shake my head either. I really just talk out loud and act out scenes like in a movie. I also find myself repeating sentences over and over again, just to get the tone of voice or accent right. I have done this ever since I was 10y old and it never went away. I have been hiding it from my boyfriends, husband, friends, but my family did caught me upon multiple occasions when I was younger. I told my brother about it recently and he didn't seem to think it was a bad thing. He admired the imagination that goes into it. And that's true, people with MD do have a way of creating storylines out of thin air. Anyway, just so nice to read this here.

I do the same thing, mostly just by pacing or having conversations aloud. I like to dance and sing in my daydreams too so my downstairs neighbor feels the brunt of that one haha. Sometimes the emotions I'm emulating in my daydreams can be so intense that I actually start crying real tears or laughing genuinely.

I'm actually experiencing this too. I love books and I love watching films. So basically, those are the things that usually triggers me to reenact those scenarios that got me aside from MY OWN SCENARIOS say for example:I feel like crying,so I'll be like rereading some books that already sents me to tears or use any social media platforms to feat with my current mood or to be more precise, gather some new ideas to be the content of my DD. And I'll be repeating them if there's a so-called errors or i just feel like it. However, mine's doesn't usually require big movements of being on act and out loud voices. Only whispers and subtly. It's actually contradicting cuz I love doing it at night inside my room only for most of it reason behind my lack of sleep. Then at daytime, it's either I find time to be in my room just for that or I'll do it where I stand with just my MIND AGAIN, WITH ALMOST UNNOTICEABLE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AND MOVEMENTS that I think I've already mastered through the years cuz I've only experienced being caught once in my years of existence and it happened when I was still four by my grandpa. He caught me reenacting a nagging wife to her husband while carrying my doll as a baby which I got to the drama I'd watched on TV🙈 I was really ashamed and embarrassed bc of that and from then on, I learned the Art of Subtle.
Ps. glad I'm not the only one.

I suspect that my MaDD might have come from my need to pace and release pent up energy rather than it being the other way around - a part of ADHD I believe. I don't typically act per say but I do need to physically move every few hours and I'll usually daydream as I do so and the most I do is increase how fast I'm pacing during action scenes.

OMG!!! Seeing some of your messages, I felt like I was reading my own thoughts literally. 1. Pacing - check (no matter how much tired I am, I will manage to place around and get that little satisfaction) 2. I act out a lot and sometimes cry also. I wonder how it looks from outside right. People might think I am crazy or something. A person walks into my room when I am crying and I suddenly run off to my bathroom making up reasons about my act. 3. Even when my exams are there, I will manage to daydream somehow when I have loads to study also.
