Hello there,
Does anyone else become hypersensitive when they’re experiencing MD? For example, hanging on to their every word, and making sure that there’s nothing bad in what the person is saying, if it’s on a real life person?
Does it feel like you’re carefully monitoring everything about them, and are listening and watching out for anything that looks and sounds a bit “off?” And if you do find something that you think is not quite right, do you get very anxious and obsess over it like I do?
One thing that I do in almost all cases is to show something I’ve read, or to show a video clip of something to a trusted loved one to get their opinion and perspective.
This almost always puts my mind at rest because it was never as bad as I thought.
PS, does anyone know how to handle something like this if you don’t have anyone to talk to about it? It can be incredibly distressing.

Not really? I mean I’m autistic so Im pretty sensitive to social cues and stuff in regular conversation, but I know that my daydream characters are just me saying stuff to myself and I control everything so I don’t pay attention to tone or facial expressions or whatever the same way I do IRL.

I’m autistic too! I have Asperger’s Syndrome so sometimes it’s harder to ascertain what could be behind someone facial expressions, or tone of voice. Social cues can also be an issue too as I tend to take things to heart much of the time. Thank you for your comment.
