Has anyone here experienced significant pain from excessive pacing? I remember when I first started, my feet and my hips would hurt like hell all the time. Of course I could never stop, no matter how bad it hurt. I just carried on like the dumbass I am. I don’t know how or exactly why the majority of the pain is gone now. I have some spinal abnormalities and I’ve always wondered how pacing could affect it. My hips crack and creek a lot, and I don’t know if thats just due to my bone/body structure, or if it’s from all these years of pacing. As I get older, I’ve started to really worry about the long-term effects of all this pacing.

My feet get really sore from pacing but that doesn't stop me plus I walk into things in my room too when I am deep into a dream which I say happens to us all from time to time.

This is going to sound completley weird but I don`t pace. I tend to jump up and down on the same spot for hours with my headphones in and listening to really loud music. I did this when I was younger starting from the age of 10 and I am so suprised that my parents never made me go see anyone about it. It got to the point where I was doing it so much that they put a trampoline in my room which sounds even more ridiculous but they were worried that I was accidentally going to stunt my bone growth or something. I am so glad to learn that other people have physical tics that they do when they deep in a daydream though!

I noticed this a bit the other day. When I pace I go up and down the stairs, so if I daydream for an extended period of time, the joints in my feet start hurting. If I really do it long enough my knees and hips will start hurting too (because my knees and hips suck).

I remember how in the summer I went home on foot every other day (takes me an hour) and was daydreaming all way long. Felt terribly tired after it and all I wanted was to lay down - but it was so beautiful.

My knees and the bottoms of my feet will be sore sometimes. I generally take that as a cue to sit back down, haha.

I would pace until my feet were sore and I was limping every day. I also got athlete’s foot, so these cuts would form on my feet and hurt like hell. It didn’t stop me, though.

Yes, absolutely. I injured my foot/ankle a few times dancing or pacing. My feet and legs hurt because I have just come out of an intensive daydream marathon that started when my job contract ended in september. I am so glad I found this forum and I am not alone in this.

I get this around the 3 or 4 hour mark. Last night I went to bed with painful feet. But the pains normally always gone when I wake up. Arthritis is a concern thought if I'm wearing down the cartilage in my joints.

I don't normally pace when I DD but I did when I was pregnant and I hurt so much from the back and forth. I did ask the doctor and he said it will cause pain and aches after doing it so much but he said there shouldn't be any issues that arise from it. He said it was like running for long periods of time on the legs and hips and try to rest more and try to pace less (I didn't). I ended up with pretty swollen ankles . if that's helpful at all but I was worried from how much I would pace as well.

Oh yeah definitely. Part of the problem is that during exciting parts of daydreams I'll start jogging/prancing/whatever, and I'm doing this barefoot on tile and not paying attention to what I'm doing.
When I first started pacing it was awful - honestly there were a few times where I felt the worst pain in my life. It was a very sharp pain in my calves. I didn't stop though - I loved daydreaming, the pacing added a lot of feeling to the daydreams, and I excused it by saying hey, at least it's some form of exercise.
Eventually those pains stopped for about a year, but for the past month or so my ankles have been aching when I'm just walking around normally, and I think I'm starting to walk a bit weirdly/stiffly from the pain. I've started stretching after my pacing sessions but that doesn't seem to be helping much (at least in the short term, long term will probably show improvement).
Honestly I need to stop, give myself at least a week to rest and heal, but every time I'm left alone in the house I get an uncontrollable urge to do it again. It sucks.
