Hi, I am 17, Male & a MaDD! I was diagnosed with ADHD during childhood. Would you mind sharing with me how you keep yourself focused on your studies and upcoming exams if you're a student?
I am a retired amateur athlete who left sports more than a year ago due to a minor long-term injury. Moreover, I always fantasize my myself as the ideal version of myself in sports, academics, and my social circle. My daydreams are constantly detaching me from the mundane reality that I want to accept and strive through. I am struggling to unlock my true potential due to a lack of discipline and concentration on IRL stuff...
I have found that I can study with classical/ dark academia music playlists playing on my earphones. Additionally, I am the type of student who cannot get back to studying after I have broken my flow state by getting off the study desk. However, I can study for 1-1.5 hours without breaking my concentration once I have entered the state of flow. Another thing that works for me Is that I can enter the state of flow faster by actively engaging in what I am studying at the moment by sub-vocalising the textbook. My Achilles heel is that I cannot stay consistently productive throughout the day without losing my concentration at some point in the day.
I know that I have what it takes to achieve the big goal that I had for the last few years, but I just can't get my head down and work accordingly; up to my true abilities... I have around 70 days before the most important test of my life... I Hope someone can help me 😢😖 Thanks in advance 😊

Somewhat similar problem I have with studying. If I just start daydreaming then I will break the flow of studying and end up wasting hours of my day. Recently I found out the best way to not take a very long break and later regret too - is using study with me sessions on YouTube or twitch. I prefer the live sessions because You cannot pause those sessions and it helps u to break your daydreaming sooner in case you daydream in between because they wont stop the sessions and you have to set a target of completing these many sessions. I feel that is a great way of productivity. Yes I do agree that you will get the urge to daydream but just remind yourself of completing your target to study with the number of sessions. I guess it helped me a lot. I feel your morning should be productive because that sets the day. There are so many studies based on how your thoughts in the morning will affect your whole day. So make sure that you don't daydream in the morning. And remember your thoughts is linked to the night before. Listen to some motivation in the night and sleep and wake up with a determination. It has something linked to psychology and it actually helps you way better. The main barrier is after 4-5 hours of studying. So that's where the live sessions will push you to achieve more. Have a proper plan for the month or week and achieve them. One step at a time. These study with me sessions follow the Pomodoro method. So you will be studying for 50 minutes and 10 minutes break. Most of the youtubers will talk and you can interact with them though chat. So spend time listening to them and text. Don't daydream in the break, It might extend to hours of daydreaming. There are study groups where you can switch on your camera and mute your microphone and study. This is somewhat productive but I feel I still have the chance to daydream because there is no push to keep going on to complete the sessions like how it is in the study with me sessions. For example if you have to study 5 hours. Seeing that 0/5 and then complete one session it will be 1/5. Looking at those numbers, it will gives u the urge to complete YOUR task more. One mistake you should never do is to think that u don't have the passion towards the field of studying u r doing just because you end up daydreaming in the end and waste the time. You have the capacity you should remember that crystal clear. Well the other suggestions you will see frequently in this website - journaling, exercise, meditation and so on. You can plan and see what suits you better to be more productive. Lets do it buddy and I will get back to studying now. .
