Sleep Issues due to DD
Do you struggle to get a good nights sleep because you have stayed awake in bed daydreaming or have you found that it helps you to doze off? I struggle to sleep anyway and have always suffered from sleep problems but I have added to these by getting into bed and daydreaming instead of going to sleep. I don't even intend to do it. I just get into bed and automatically start daydreaming.
How does you MD effect your sleep?

MD gave me sleep problems for years, could never fall asleep, never stay asleep. And because I DD while still (usually in bed) my family thought I slept TOO MUCH and would harass me about trying to sleep or lay down.
I've really buckled down on trying to form a healthy sleeping habit; all the usual advise, no caffeine in the afternoon, no TV/devises before bed, sleep and wake same time every day etc. Plus I've been taking sleep aids. I still DD at night but fall asleep a lot faster, they don't help me if I wake during the night though. Seems to be working pretty well so far.

Actually yes, and it has two possibilities: either I cannot sleep at all, or I can sleep but often wake up at early morning and cannot sleep again. I rather had the first one, because I still can distract by reading some stories to make me sleepy.

For me, I love waking up a little early before I have to be up and start my day so I can daydream. Usually, if I have a really good storyline, I'll go to sleep a little earlier so I can build on it. Sometimes I can't visualize properly so it's ruined, but I've definitely lost hours of sleep just daydreaming.

I have always had sleep problems. I never associated those with my MD. While I suppose it is possible that there is a connection, I very much doubt that there is a cause/effect relationship between the two.

I have had big sleep problems but they are mostly gone now. I did more or less what Dimmer did and can honestly say that learning how to sleep has done wonders for my life and mental health.

Ive always had trouble with sleeping, im actually taking meds (melatonin) but its not that effective. So I day dream, in the bed, trying to sleep. Works most of the time, but sometimes is harder to get asleep when the dd is too good

i do often have sleep issues, but DD helps me fall asleep. as soon as i lay down i pull up a scenerio and it runs like a movie. often its repeated, the same one with a little more added to it each time.until it runs its course and i loose interest. When i can't get a DD started, usually because i cant shut down some looping thoughts or worry, or because ive gotten so hyper about doing a task i go into overdrive, like being overtired where you feel totally wired and exhausted at the same time. at these times its much harder to get the DD to start, and harder to fall asleep. I also find in the morning, i wake before my alarm and DD , drifting from some sort of DD to real dream state and back . if i get enough time to do this when i actually get up i feel ok and ready for the day. If i dont get to DD at all i feel very agitated and angry. If i get to DD some, but get interrupted by my alarm i feel very anxious, jolted by every sound, and feel unrested.

It does work, it gets me to sleep, but it makes me feel a bit weird during the day. I'm still tired, just a different kind of tired, and all my joints get a weird feeling like I need to crack them or something. I think I'm going to try something different after this bottle is done.

I was bullied in high school and I was sexually harassed by a dude I always daydream abiut me trying to change the situation and save myself especially at night .. I cry a lot too .. the next morning I wake up super tired and my head would hurt me to death :/ do you have an advices or some natural receipe to make me fall assleep faster ? something to help me relax

I use an over-the-counter product called Alteril. It is a blend of melatonin, valerian and l-tryptophan. All are substances that promote sleep. Sometimes I take it with a little extra melatonin or benadryl if sleep problems are particularly bad. I have also used just benadryl and alcohol in the past, although I do not recommend those for long term use. Both benadryl and alcohol are damaging to the liver and build up tolerances so that you need to keep increasing the dose to get the same effect. I have also tried mediation and white noise, although those did not work well for me. When things get really desperate I have found that masturbation also sometimes helps, although for me not as much as it used to (which I think is an age thing).
I have also used daydreaming, although that is with mixed results. One of my daydreams involves a fountain. It is a fountain that shoots from a spring in a mountain side into a pool. When I was young I imagined the shower to be that fountain. I used to imagine that the sick and injured could go to the fountain for healing and I found that fantasy to be very relaxing and soothing when I was taking a shower. I think it helped to put my mind into a relaxed alpha state and help me to sleep. It was always a very soothing daydream. When we moved away from the house it was very hard to recreate the fountain in the new showers, but when I moved into my current house and designed my own shower I kind of had the fountain in mind, and now it feels like I have it back again. If you are going to daydream anyway, maybe change the daydreams to something that soothes you instead of agitates you. Maybe you can find your own fountain. It is one of my most pleasant memories of daydreaming.

Sometimes, but I think I've learned to think of more relaxing things when I'm trying to sleep.
