Hello everyone.
I'm Maple and i've been lurking on here a couple of times and finally decided to join!!
Anyway, nice to meet you all!
I've been daydreaming since I was a kid. But as I got to my mid-teens, I started to daydream excessively...that I couldn't concentrate on doing homework or any task I would consider as boring. After a while, I would start daydreaming whilst watching TV, movies, playing music, topics of conversation and mainly, before I go to sleep. I tend to run and pace around when I daydream...and show the few odd facial expressions here and there!
I don't know if I have MD, I haven't been to the doctors about it. Currently, I daydream alot during the day and night, sometimes with no triggers at all. I really enjoy daydreaming and I think my mind is drifting towards daydreaming now more than ever because, I'm of what I want to do after college. I don't want to attend university, but I don't feel ready to apply for a job. So daydreaming is my way of avoiding it.
I also consider daydreaming a hobby...because I do it more than anything else, other than college homework and assignments. I used to enjoy reading, writing stories and drawing cartoons. Now I don't do any of those hobbies and instead, I watch shows, music and youtube videos to trigger new daydreams.
Before, my daydreams used to be related to the triggers that caused them. Now, most of my daydreams link to the characters I've created as part of a story in my mind. Triggers cause new scenarios with these characters, in which one of the characters represents me...but as someone who is more kind and admirable to others. Part of me wants to put this to paper and write a story about these characters.
My next plan of action is to see the careers advice team at my college for help. I've told my mom about my daydreams and she's been sympathetic. I'm happy to have her and I am interested to read how other people are coping with MD on here. I also want to take up some new hobbies to daydream less in my spare time. I'd love to learn a foreign language and learn how to cook...I just need to put these into action...eventually!!

Welcome to the forum! Careers advise sounds like a solid move, there's lots of ways forward. Mine also changed over time and I don't need any triggers to get going, and same as you, I used to have hobbies but have let them all fall to the wayside. I've been working on that as well. Daydreaming as a hobby is one thing but when you end up doing nothing else and creating nothing from it... eh... what's even the point?!

Thank you very much! Exactly! I don't want daydreaming to be a hobby, but I wish it wasn't so tempting!! :( I even space out daydreaming when I talk to others...which has caught me out a few times.

Welcome to the forum! Cultivating new hobbies to replace some of the time that you spend daydreaming is definitely a good idea. I would recommend just experimenting with different things to see what you enjoy.
