Hi I'm Justin....obviously. I honestly never knew this was a thing until recently, I just spent my days wondering if anyone else was like this or if I was just crazy. I would imagine almost every conversation that I would have asking people about it, if it was normal or if it was indicative of a larger problem. The worst is sometimes it simply starts with a flash of "what if" in my head and next thing I know I have paced the same circle in my living room and played out entire scenarios in my head ranging from simple things like "what if I won the lottery" to confronting people that have hurt me. I get really embarrassed because I won't notice myself start to speak when I am daydreaming in public and only snap out of it when I notice people are staring at me so I've started wearing headphones so they think I am singing along to a song or something. They never are violent so I didn't think it was something to be scared of when I was growing up but it never stopped and has become increasingly more prevalent. I am a bartender as a profession so it keeps me too busy to drift off but once I get home it starts all over again. Even when I play fully immersive video games I imagine extra dialogue or backstories between characters. This coupled with narcolepsy makes it hard to differentiate between dreams, daydreams, and reality late at night or early in the morning. Sorry I feel like I am rambling but it feels so good to get this off my chest. Honestly I just don't know what to do since I hate taking medication because I can't stand the version of me it creates. Anyways I am hoping to find some coping mechanisms and tricks on here to help me out so I would appreciate any input.
Thanks, Justin

Hi Justin! Welcome to the forum! There are a bunch of different threads that talk about or mention tips for dealing with your daydreaming. I think that the "Help and Research" board contains most of them, but you can probably find others if you look around the forum. I hope that you find the support and help that you're looking for here.
