Hey guys Your existence soothes my soul as I was afraid I was the only one who daydreams a lot. I saw a random post on MD and realized I might also suffer from it. After some thorough research I realised that I do. This scares the shit outta me. I obviously can't say this to anyone but am bursting at the seams from the anxiety that comes with the realisation that I am fucked in the head. This is my first time voicing out my opinion on a social platform. Never done this before. I just wanted to introduce myself and ended up lamenting about it. Sry.

Welcome!
You aren't "fucked in the head", as you say. Daydreaming is normal. Our daydreaming has just grown out of control. And as sucky as it is, it makes sense. Most of us use daydreaming as an escape from or coping method for things in our real life. Hell, people who daydream "normally" do that too. We just get so emotionally invested in and addicted to our daydreams that we have trouble keeping a healthy balance between daydreams and real life. That's what makes our daydreaming maladaptive.

Welcome to the forum! Finding others sure is a mindfuck, but it's really not so bad, definitely more severe things it could have been.
