Hi,
I'm a french 36 year old software engineer with MDD, mostly on "megalomaniac" themes (in which I "impress" people).
I have this condition since so long I don't remember when it started.
However it was getting really worse since my teenage years, my whole schooling was very hard (difficulty to focus on doing any actual work).
I have seen a psychiatrist at different periods of my life.
The worst period of my day dreaming was a relationship oriented day dreaming when I was 22-23. It started as a seduction attempt in real life, I dated the girl one time. Then ... I don't know what happened ... but it was a nightmare.
After few weeks of suffering, I started again to see a psychiatrist and he gave me a 5 mg Zyprexa medication and
it worked (daydreams were weaker). However I was still not able to study anything, was depressed, blank/empty,
and I had a car accident. So I stopped the medication and tried to focus only in getting graduated.
Fortunately my "crush" started to date a guy and went back to her home country and it helped me much.
Now I'm 36, I learned few weeks ago the name of my condition (MDD) thanks to internet and the psychiatrists who highlighted it.
I hope I can learn from others experiences and getting cured.

It's really interesting your story, I recommend you to read a lot from MDD, from people that has this like me. Try everything, and keep possitive. I hope you get what you seek, always there is people what wants to help, and there is a lot of support.
All the good vibes 4 u :3

Bonjour philippe, welcome to the forum, nice to meet you. Like WhiteWing already suggested, look around, there are many great posts about how people deal with mdd here. Personally I gained a lot of insights from Prof. Somers publications, too. www.somer.co.il/publications
