Hi, I'm a italian girl of 28 years old. I don't speak english very well. I am suffering from MD for 20 years but only now I understood my trouble. As a child I didn't have many friends so I often had imaginary friends and life went bad, everything went great in my fantasy. Often this fantasy led me to isolate myself and not to try to have a social life. It has caused me a lot of problems in studying at the university and I stopped my studies. I need help I want to be able to recover from this distress. is there anyone who has managed to heal? In Italy this disorder is little known and I have never spoken to any person who has the same disorder. sorry for linguistic mistakes. Please help me, thanks.

Welcome to the forum!
I haven't heard of many people who've been able to completely stop the maladaptive side of their daydreaming, but the help and research board here on the forum has many threads that talk about tips and tricks for dealing with it.
Honestly, not many people know about maladaptive daydreaming, no matter where they're from. Its relatively newly discovered and named, and while it is slowly gaining traction in the mental health community, its newness means that its not widely known, even among doctors.

Hi Violetta,
Nice to meet you. What lead me to this forum is a press article that mention a cure : basically high doses of antidepressors.
I had some results with another kind of medication.
Don't lose hope.

Welcome to the forum.
I don't know if MD can be cured but it does look like it can be controlled.
