Oh my god its November already. Anyways, here is the accountability/goals thread for this month. For those who haven't participated before, this thread is a place where you can write about goals that you have for the month, no matter how small they might be. You can give and receive encouragement in achieving the goals. A lot of MDers have trouble setting goals and staying accountable to them because of the daydreaming, and this thread tries to help with that. Personally, after doing A LOT last month, I think I'll take it a bit easy on my goals this month. - The main thing that I have going this month is an appointment with my academic advisor to, idk, try to plan out my degree? I'm not sure, but I have an appointment scheduled for the 12th and I really need to actually do it, even though it will be very stressful.
- I want to review enough of the math concepts that I feel comfortable enough to take the math placement exam by the end of the month. Technically I shouldn't have to review anything because you take the exam, they create a study module thing, and then you take the exam again, but perfectionist brain doesn't like the idea of scoring badly on the first try.
- I'd like to do more socializing. I'm planning on trying to videochat with my friends more often, both to talk to them and so that I can practice doing things under pressure. I'd also like to visit with my great-aunt when she and her husband come up for the holidays.
- I need to work more on shop stuff, including applying for a Sellers Permit and finishing up pricing everything.
- This is more of a "maybe do it if you're feeling up for it buts not a big deal if you don't" kind of thing, but now that I've officially switched primary care physicians, I'd like to go in to get a physical and talk to my new doctor about some concerns that I've been ignoring for a long time.
This still looks like a lot tbh. Unfortunately for me, now that I've got the ball rolling on college and shop stuff, I'll probably end up with bigger goals for at least the next 2 months. Hopefully it'll even out after I start classes and open the shop, but that won't be until at least January. I'm looking forward to hearing everyone else's goals. As always, don't be off put by my personal large goals. Any goal is a good goal and belongs on this thread, even if you think that its small or inconsequential :)

I try to practice mindfulness meditation on a daily basis. Concerning my goal to visit appartements to buy, I abandon it for this month. I would like to able to "let it go" enough to be able to do something I'm not able to do now. Anything.
Concerning professional skills, the skills I need may change because my company is going to hire a trainee for the particular task I expected to do. I have however improved the initialy targeted skills a little, but only on my worktime, not on my freetime.
Next wednesday I should receive a high end computer laptop, which should help me to work on my freetime. It's not an excuse but yet now I'm using a desktop computer plugged to a TV, it's not very ergonomic to work.

This isn't going to be large right now. I have an extremely hard time sticking to long term goals. And for me even a month is long term. So I'm just going to write my goals for today, and keep to this for the next few days, and if anybody wants me to stop flooding this space with this just let me know and I'll stop.
For today:
Read 8 pages in o-chem and take notes and practice memorizing reactions after to master those for the test
Study one anatomy section today to remember part names to master those for the practical
Finish old assignment 11 in physics to master those concepts for the test.
It's been a long time since I've succeeded with even daily goals, so I'm really hoping I can do this today.

A lot of us do goals for the month and just check in a few times each month, but doing shorter term goals is perfectly okay. I will be creating a new accountability/goals thread for December some time tomorrow, so you'll want to post in that thread going forward. I hope that we're able to help you stay more accountable to your goals :)

Oh my god its the end of the month already. November flew by so fast its like it didn't even happen. As for my goals: - I did do my academic advising appointment. I got registered for my classes and everything.
- I finished my math review last week and took the placement test. I'll be entirely honest... I did terrible. And would have done even worse if I hadn't done the review that I did. Also, taking a proctored exam was honestly one of the most stressful things I've done in recent memory. Luckily, I can review the materials that they've given me to study and retake the exam.
- I didn't do as much socializing as I was hoping to do. I did facetime with one of my friends, which was nice. But my great aunt and her husband left before I got a chance to visit. I did manage to do some socializing with people I'm not currently friends with though, including my college success coach. And I left a message for my enrollment advisor, which is honestly something I've never done in my 4 years of having a cell phone. Hopefully she'll call me back tomorrow.
- In shop stuff, I applied for a sellers permit and a business license and got both of them. My shop is officially a thing as of 1/1/2020. Yay! I also set prices for most of the items that I've made so far.
- I didn't get in to see my doctor because she's scheduling appointments like 6 weeks out, which sucks. But I've got 2 appointments with her scheduled for January, so I'm at least trying my best here.
- This wasn't one of my listed goals, but I managed to withdraw completely from one of my anxiety medications. It took just under a year, as I was at the maximum dose and I needed to taper it down slow enough that I was still able to function normally. But its done! Yay! The only one I'm still on is the antidepressant, and I'm going to keep taking it for now because its doing what I want it to and isn't giving me side effects.
One of these days I'll stop writing posts that are so long, but sadly that day will not be today.

I hope that we're able to help you stay more accountable to your goals Thanks so much Sam for everything. You've made me feel so welcomed my first day. I didn't achieve my goals, but knowing that everybody here is struggling with keeping goals makes me feel that I'm not alone, so I got a mind to try to achieve goals tomorrow. I'm how long it will take me to finally get one day done right, but I feel now that it's after the fact that it wasn't really realistic to think I'll do it my first day when I haven't done it in so long. For this new day, my goals are: Read 8 pages in o-chem and take notes for only 2 hours and 40 minutes. That's long for most but today I struggled getting a page done in even 20 minutes so that is my goal today Finish old assignments 11 and 8 (whatever's needed on 8, so maybe not finish) for physics to prepare for the test. Review 1-1.5 sections for anatomy. Only come back to this forum when I'm done with each part. I definitely spent way too much time on this forum this first day. Thanks again to you and everyone for the support. I'm glad to be part of this community.
