Hello, this is the first I've ever heard of MDD. Far as I know I've been daydreaming my entire life, it never stops, my mind is never quiet. I even have characters and plot lines and everything. I never thought that it was unusual, I just assumed it was smth everyone did since you know everyone has their own consciousness. But I've recently come to realize how much it is effecting me. I can't sleep, I can't focus, I gained a unhealthy dependence on smoking weed because it's the only thing that can keep me sain and even then I still dream slightly, when I'm high my mind just floats. I would really like to learn more about this and how I can deal with it in a healthier way.

Hey amccuff, welcome to the forum! You realized the effects md has on your life, that's the first step to getting better. Look around, there are many good posts about how others deal with md, I hope you find something to help you. And if not, don't hesitate to ask. With regard to smoking weed and md, there is a study on this: Self-Reported Medication and Recreational Drug Effectiveness in Maladaptive Daydreaming www.somer.co.il/images/MD/2019_MD-meds.pdf

Welcome to the forum.
There have been lots of suggestions of how to control daydreaming but I think the solution will be different for each of us. Some find meditation to be helpful (personally I don't) whilst others find reconnecting with real world activities to be the thing that helps them the most. Look around and feel free to ask any questions about MD and we will offer advice and support where we can.
