I'd be curious to know how you find out MD was a thing?
For example I found out by googling something like "daydreaming your life away" one day when I felt like I had hit rock bottom being stuck inside my own head.

I found the word 'paracosm' in a book about the Bronte sisters. It just kinda hit me like.. wow, there is SOMETHING here, there ARE other people... somewhere. So I googled the shit out of it and found absolutely nothing. There were a few things I guess, but not like MD, so I got discouraged and kinda gave up on it. A few years later, on a whim, I looked it up again and finally found something. During the years in between searches MD had been discovered and I finally found it.

I found the word 'paracosm' in a book about the Bronte sisters. Were the Bronte sisters maladaptive daydreamers ??

Mines a bit silly, on Imgur I was commenting how I daydream so hard I disassociate at work, and as a commenter so elegantly put it, "You one of em maladaptive daydreamers" and so I found myself here.

In April 2015, I finally had enough wondering and just started Google-searching key words and terms of what I was doing. Google: daydream too much Google: realistic daydreams Google: can't stop daydreaming This was pretty much what I did. Googling ways to stop dd. It was causing so many issues, my ex once pulled me back from stepping into the road in front of a car. I was struggling to follow conversations and wasn't able to complete basic tasks. I can't count the amount of times I burnt things when cooking, I actually became a danger to myself. One of the biggest issues is I use dd to cope with mental and physical health problems and without dd my problems are pretty consuming and on the days when my physical health is bad I'm pretty inactive so it helps to distract from that.

My pacing and loud music became noticeable to some of my family and I also was curious was I the only one in the world that does this and what was it. I googled excessive daydreaming and MDD came up.Then I just researched all I could about MDD.

Found it while I was looking into Avoident personality disorder that a psychologist said I had some fleas from. I had completely given up on finding anyone else who is like me.

Totally like me there it seems. Thank you for sharing.
