Hi guys Maladaptive daydreaming is something I’ve struggled with for quiet some time, I have never talked to anyone about it in my life and am honestly very embarrassed by it but it has taken over my life, I can’t stop doing it particularly at work which is when I try not to do it the hardest, I do meditate but I need to get back into doing it regulary, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how I can ground myself when I am at work. And just any tips in general. I do make the effort to go out more and see my friends but after being with them for a few hours I feel exhausted just to drained to stay in the moment. Thankyou So much for your time

Welcome to the forum!
There are a multitude of suggestions on the "help and research board" so you might want to take a look at that. As for grounding yourself at work, could you maybe try to figure out why you daydream at work so much? Are you bored or stressed? If you address the cause, you might find it easier to stay present.

Hi takenover,
welcome to the forum!
Going out and meeting friends is a very good thing to do. I get this feeling of exhaustion, too, but I think it's better than staying away from contact. Like Sam already said, there are a number of good posts around, although I can't remember a md-at-work-post. What do you do at work?

I work in food, my job is very repetitive and I do find it boring, although when I get stressed there I daydream a lot to, it’s honestly both. when my boss is there it’s not as hard to stay present but I do work alone for quite a bit or with younger people where I am in charge, some days it’s not that bad, some days I just literally can’t get out of my day dreams.

While I am serving I start day dreaming and then I make mistakes, I do try to just engage conversation with the customer now to stop me from doing that, but it’s really any moment I’m not talking at work I’ll end up daydreaming, I got really into mindful meditation and meditated everyday for 3 months, I work 7 days a week now and often just forget to mediate or feel to tired and say I’ll do it later

This "instant daydreaming when not talking" sounds very exhausting.
Any idea whats the cause of your daydreaming? Are you in treatment for anything and/or take any kind of medication?

Hey, I'm obviously not an expert or anything, but have you tried finding
5- things you can see 4- things you can hear 3- things you can touch 2- things you can smell 1- thing you can taste?
when you feel like you're slipping into daydreams? Good luck! :)

Thankyou So much for your time More risk chances, things that your mind can aware of, like getting lost in a city, talking to your crush, etc. Less boring safe chances, like listening to random music until 3:00 Am like me... Smart Danger in short words. Going out is ok, but try to make it interesting, Good Luck.
